What does a coffee box, a popsicle box, an iPhone box and a deodorant box all have in common? They’re ALL on this DIY Christmas mantel!
STEP 2) Pick a color palette. This DIY will work with ALL different styles and colors.
STEP 3) Drag out that left over wrapping paper from last year and get to wrapping. Below are some examples. The box in the left photo below is an empty box that had protein bars. Now it’s wrapped up to be a cute decoration. The two smaller boxes on the right below are empty wrapped deodorant boxes.
STEP 4) Now that you have all your boxes wrapped, let’s get to decorating. First, weave lights into your garland, if it doesn’t have them already.
STEP 5) Next, place your faux wrapped gifts in a fluffed and shaped garland. Use the branches on your garland to help hold the faux presents in place or tie each present in place with wire or pipe cleaner, if needed.
STEP 6) Select a few special ornaments, 3 is a good number, and place these next in between the presents to draw the eye. I’ve picked little house ornaments, but any style or shape will do as long as they are unique. Then, select 5 to 7 ball ornaments that match the color palette and place them as filler. Place these into any empty spot to fill in the bare holes.
STEP 7) Finally, add in snowflake ornaments. I prefer the clear translucent ones because they add extra dimension and whimsy to the overall look. Place your snowflake ornaments here and there letting some dangling and others nestle in the garland. Create layers by placing them in front of the ball ornaments. When you turn on your lights, the snowflakes will twinkle adding a magical touch to your mantel decor.
STEP 8) Last and most important, make sure to finish off your mantel masterpiece with your family stockings and enjoy!
